Bundesliga relegated Fortuna Dusseldorf apparently has to let defense chief Kaan Ayhan go. The 25-year-old is said to have drawn his exit clause and is therefore facing a move to Italy. “Yes, it is true! I have pulled the exit clause, and I am already with my new club in Italy. More information in the next few days. I just want to say: I thank Fortuna for four fantastic years,” he wrote accordingly in a WhatsApp message to the image-Newspaper.
The club did not yet want to confirm the Turkish international’s departure. “As of now there is no deal. It will only be on Monday whether the exit clause will take effect,” said club boss Thomas Röttgermann on the club’s Twitter channel.
Ayhan came to Fortuna from FC Schalke 04 in 2016 and was one of the top performers last season. According to image he can leave the club thanks to the clause for two million euros, Champions League participant Atalanta Bergamo could be the new club. The upheaval at Fortuna is getting bigger and bigger, 16 contracts had expired with the relegation anyway.
