Foreclosure evictions rose 92% in the first quarter of the year, after stalling in the pandemic

The number of contests increased by 23.8% compared to the same period in 2020

The number of launches carried out in Galicia in the first quarter of the year experienced an increase of 9.2% compared to the same period of 2020, going from 426 to 465. Of these, 106 were produced as a result of foreclosure proceedings, compared to to the 55 that were carried out for this reason in 2020, which represents a year-on-year increase of 92.7%.

The foreclosures initiated in Galicia between January 1 and March 31, 2021 increased by 15.2%. The study also reveals that in the first quarter of 2021 the Galician courts filed 11 lawsuits for illegal occupation of homes in cases in which the owners are individuals, non-profit entities or public entities with social housing, compared to 24 hours of the previous period. In total, between January 1 and March 31, 2021, they resolved 12 such procedures and left 50 pending.

According to the statistics made public this Monday, the number of competitions presented in the Galician commercial courts has increased compared to last year, since they went from 80, in the first quarter of 2020, to 99, which represents an increase of 23 , 8%. Regarding the competitions of non-business individuals, which since the modification of the Organic Law of the Judicial Power, which entered into force on October 1, 2015, correspond to the courts of first instance and instruction, were presented in Galicia in the The first three months of the year 86 cases, compared to the 81 that began in the same period last year.

In the Galician Community, ten files of article 64 of the Bankruptcy Law were recorded in the first quarter of the year, relating to the substantial modification of collective working conditions (such as ERE), compared to 19 of the same period of 2020 .

The 1,379 lawsuits for dismissal filed in the social courts between January 1 and March 31, 2021 represent a year-on-year decrease of 1.1%, compared to the increase of 12.6% registered in the state average.
