The bottom line of the corona virus crisis at Daimler also resulted in a sharp drop in profits, and only allowed the car and truck manufacturer to barely miss a loss. In the first quarter, the profit attributable to shareholders plummeted to 94 million euros as the group announced in Stuttgart. A year ago it was around 2.1 billion euros. In comparison, sales rose only slightly by six percent 37.2 billion euros back.
Daimler only had in the first quarter 644,300 cars and sell commercial vehicles. That was 17 percent less than in the same period last year. The group published its first preliminary figures last week and also announced that due to the coronavirus pandemic, sales and sales as well as earnings in 2020 would be lower than in the previous year.
