Bláithín, who identifies as both masculine and feminine (“10 and 0 all at once” in her own words), expressed openness to dating anyone regardless of gender. However, her experience with ladies on the dating scene remains a feather in her cap to spur on.

The veteran comedian, at 33, attends numerous events but hasn’t tried dating women despite her bold preferences, expressing slight apprehension towards meeting another potential date.

Mary’s Journey

As for Mary, a proud member of the culchie community she describes with pride, she decided to venture into the world outside the typical connections: men involved in GAA and women who inhabited the same social circles.

This decision came from her past relationships primarily comprising of men and the wish to broaden her social spectrum. Acknowledging that she is biromantic, Mary delivers her sexual identity with amongst inspired wit, saying “I like the wine, not its label.” This quote borrowed from Schitt’s Creek emphasizes her acceptance of both romantically oriented genders.

The Linguistic Connection Between the Matches

From the start, Bláithín and Mary found a deep connection based on common interests, such as their language prowess. Mary can speak multiple languages: Irish, English, French, Russian, and Irish Sign Language.

“It’s an attractive quality to speak a lot of languages,” Bláithín affirmed, appreciating Mary’s linguistic skills.

Beyond language, they spoke openly about their distinct life experiences, exploring a wide range of topics, including ADHD diagnosis, previous relationships, and daily routines. Their conversation flowed seamlessly as they sampled various types of food including cocktails, oysters à la carte for their Valentine’s theme dish, and desserts enjoyed in ASL conversation.

The hosts even attempted to converse in French over the main courses and ended the night with Irish Sign Language under the Valentine’s treat.
