Festival of education through the arts: The first edition starts this Friday, June 11

In order to help educate, train and integrate young people through the arts and culture, the Tumanum Association is organizing an Education Festival (Educ’art). The first edition opens this Friday, June 11, 2021, at the French Institute in Abidjan. The information given by Toussaint N’Zian, leader of the Educ’art project. It was during a lively press conference in the auditorium of the said Institute, in the Plateau. Situating the merits of this project, Mr. Toussaint N’zian, promoter of the Educ’art project, wanted to be reassuring: “The Education through the arts project is an orientation for the year 2021-2024 and within the framework of from Educ’art, the Tumanum association after having held school workshops in the different spaces, said it was necessary to install this project in the establishments ”.

The project is structured around 3 programs: the extra-curricular Educ’art program which allows children to join a club where they can express their passion; the Educ’art holiday program to occupy the children during the holidays; and the Educ’art citizen program which will help out-of-school young people to have a job, to live a passion and to integrate into the social fabric through the arts.

The establishments concerned are, among others, the Jules Vergnes school, La Farandole, Blaise pascal, the Mimo Sifcom academy and the Higher School of Interpreting and Translation (Esit).

For the director of the French Institute, Patrice Thévier, it is a great satisfaction to see children practicing artistic disciplines. “This is the first time that education and the arts have been highlighted and it is an important element, seeing children practiced artistic disciplines such as singing, dancing, theater, is something which gives emotion and which brings a special touch, we are really delighted to welcome such an initiative which for several months allowed the teachers of the Isaac to come to work with the schools ”, he expressed himself. .

At the end of the meeting, Toussaint N’zian, indicated that the “Educ’art” project will extend to other establishments in towns in the interior of Côte d’Ivoire. Dances, songs, theaters, plastic arts, puppet and clown shows as well as graduation ceremonies for participating schools will also be on the menu of this festival.
