Modular Battery Technology

Ample’s battery replacement technology shares similarities with that of Chinese company NIO, but introduces a modular design. Instead of using fixed, large battery packs, Ample uses compact, modular batteries, about the size of a handheld suitcase. This approach allows for customized battery capacity based on specific needs.

These modular batteries are designed to replace the original batteries in EVs, offering compatibility across various models. Rapid Battery Replacement

Ample first launched its battery replacement technology in California in 2021. Initial stations could replace battery modules in approximately ten minutes. By 2023, second-generation stations reduced this time by half, even allowing passengers to remain in the vehicle during the swap.
