The province of Mendoza, Argentina, is reeling from yet another femicide, marking a grim milestone in the region’s struggle with gender-based violence.On Saturday,March 22nd,Carla del Souc,a 27-year-old teacher,was fatally attacked by her former partner,Federico Acevedo,at approximately 10 PM. The tragic incident unfolded at the intersection of Lavalle and Climb rivadavia,inside the very store where del Souc worked.

Details of the Attack: A Brutal Act of Violence

According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, acevedo entered the neighborhood market and immediatly began verbally accosting del Souc. The situation quickly escalated, with Acevedo using a knife to inflict fatal wounds to her neck.Neighbors who witnessed the attack immediately contacted emergency services.

First responders arrived to find del Souc deceased at the scene. Acevedo, found with self-inflicted injuries to his chest and neck, was rushed to Carlos Saporitti Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after 11 PM.

One witness recounted the harrowing scene: Carla asked him to leave her alone. and the clients, seeing that the man became aggressive, called the police. Another witness stated that the aggressor began to harass the victim,and at one time he extracted a butcher type knife with which he attacked it at neck height.

  • Verónica Magallanes, 49 years old, murdered by her ex-husband, who set fire to her house, resulting in the death of her son as well.

The tragedy in Mendoza is not an isolated incident.On March 8th, in Buenos Aires, Noelia Aldana Torres (34) was fatally stabbed 15 times by a neighbor, César Ezequiel Florentín (21). While the motive remains under investigation, authorities suspect a possible obsession, despite the lack of prior interaction between the victim and the accused.

Investigators are exploring the possibility that Florentín entered Torres’s home with the intent to sexually assault her, and killed her when she resisted.
