Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver Star In Noah Baumbach & # 39; s Story Story Trailers for Netflix

Forty years later Kramer against Kramer took two of the most intense actors in Hollywood (Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman) and set them opposite each other in the story of a wedding to the south, writer-director Noah Baumbach has left his own mark on the divorce genre with Wedding story with Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver.

Debut on Netflix and in selected theaters this fall after a festival circuit that runs through Venice, Toronto and New York, Wedding story "is a love story that reveals itself within the distribution," Baumbach said in a statement on Tuesday, released in conjunction with the first two trailers of the film, each told from the perspective of the central couple. "With these accompanying trailers I wanted to show the relationship through the eyes of both characters. There are many sides to each story and the film embraces these different points of view to find the shared truth."

Baumbach, himself a divorce child, has tackled the subject earlier in his work, especially in The squid and the whale, who offered a semi-autobiographical view of his own life and the marriage of his parents. The same eye for the personal has been transferred to Wedding story, in which Driver plays as Charlie, a theater director, and Johansson as Nicole, an actress and his most important collaborator. Baumbach was married to actress Jennifer Jason Leigh from 2005 to 2013. Like the characters in Wedding story, Baumbach and Leigh had one son together.

"Because I went through a divorce and experienced it as a child, there are things from my experience that I could of course draw on," Baumbach told Indiewire earlier. "But it also gave me a real chance to talk to friends of mine. I mean, so many people have experienced this experience and not much is said about it." (Baumbach is currently in a relationship with fellow filmmaker Greta Gerwig; the couple has a son together.)

More details about the project were previously released by the New York Film Festival, which will be screened Wedding story as the main film next month: "The new film by Noah Baumbach is about the rapid confusion and gradual disentanglement of impetuosity, resentment and lasting love between a couple negotiating their divorce and custody of their son. Adam Driver is Charlie, a 100 percent New York experimental theater director, Scarlett Johansson is Nicole, his lead actress and soon LA-based ex-wife, their & # 39; friendly & # 39; falling apart evolves, a painful rash reaction and hostile counter-reaction simultaneously, in a legal battlefield, led on Nicole & # 39; s side by Laura Dern and on Charlie & # 39; s side by & # 39; nice & # 39; Alan Alda and & # 39; not-so-nice & # 39; Ray Liotta. Wedding story is his candid understanding of the emotional swings between Charlie and Nicole: they are both short-sighted, both occasionally small, both vengeful and both loving. The film is as moving as it is hilarious and deeply moving. With Merritt Wever and Julie Hagerty as Nicole's sister and mother, and Azhy Robertson as their beloved son, Henry. "
