A few months ago, Google began testing a new Search Map Results interface, removing the bold heading color, using a new Follow button with the Discover logo, and other tabs for accessing relevant information about the Subject were present. This UI seems to be expanding now and includes redesigns for almost all search result maps and much additional information.
The cards have a new history pastel instead of a bold, colored tab title and a slightly different font. The selection indicator for the tabs is a narrower, but thicker line. In addition, the Follow button has been moved from left to right.
These are the most obvious differences you will notice as you move through all the cards, but there are even more features that you need to unpack functionally. By and large, Google seems to be using all the details it has gathered from trusted sources, and is using it to augment its Knowledge Graph maps with more relevant information for each type of map. Access to most information is simplified by adding tabs. Instead of scrolling and scrolling to get to a carousel of related videos or similar searches, everything is accessible with a tap.
Weather: more fun
Starting with the search term that most users are likely to use, "Weather," Google has reshaped the resulting map by adding a user interface similar to the one on the full-screen weather page. The lifeless background and symbols have disappeared, replaced by characters and cartoons. The current conditions are a bit smaller, but the temperature and precipitation probabilities are more visible at a glance. Many Thanks, @D_slawotskyGurkanwal Singh!

Sport: Better values
League and team cards seem indistinguishable, but those of individual sports players. There are many new tabs for news, videos, and similar searches that were all accessible, but only when you scroll down. The main improvement is the extensive player statistics. Basketball gives you the last 10 games of the player and the annual career statistics. In football (see: Football) you will see two sub-tabs for club and national team, with statistics broken down by season and competition. Other sports have also received improved ratings for their players.

Entertainment: More information
Movies, TV, Games: Better Discovery
For both movies and TV, the maps have changed, as we described in detail in our previous article, with special tabs that allow you to quickly switch to reviews, news, trailers, and clips. The movie showtime carousel has also been reworked, as reported by 9to5Google, with the new pastel heads being the most noticeable difference.

The more important addition, however, is in the People are also looking for Tab. Previously, a small carousel was displayed at the bottom of the search result map, and all possible recommendations were mixed together. Now, similar searches are thematically grouped in sub-tabs.
Searches related to Avengers include, for example, movies by Captain America based on Stan Lee-based stories and superhero films. If you're looking for strange things, you can watch other TV shows or just those from Netflix. If you search for Assassin's Creed games, you will get similar results in the AC franchise or in other role-playing games.

When searching for books, the new search card adds some useful tabs. There is a link through which you can purchase the book from various online retailers, and another with large maps for any other book written by the same author, including the date of publication and a small summary.
Left: Old book search result. Middle right: New "Get Book" and "More from the Author".
Music: Band Members
Apart from the new design of the card design hardly changes anything for musicians. The only notable difference is adding a member tab for tapes with large thumbnails of each person. Instead of just seeing the names before, you can now better understand who's in the band.
Left: Old band search card. Middle & Law: New with band members,
Noteworthy for music is also that song cards now have their own tab for texts. The words are still under the main scorecard, but there is also a separate tab. Redundancy.
Left: Old song search card. Law: New with standalone tab.
Fictional characters: Played by, films, relevant details
The new map contains many fictional characters. The most prominent is the Played by Tab showing all actors who have taken over this role in movies and TV shows. But there is also a tab for the movies and series in which the character appeared.
You will also notice some added relevant details on the main detail map. Here are some examples:
- Winnie the Pooh: Personality Traits and Home
- Aragorn: species, organizations and weapons
- Wonder Woman: Place of origin, first appearance in the comics, important others and the universe to which she belongs
- Hercules: place of birth and death, children.

Authors: books, stories, poems (finally)
This one is a bit ridiculous. The previous search engine for writers, writers, cartoonists, and poets used to have a tab for quotes and movies, but none for their actual published works. Now you get a special tab for books. Depending on the type of writer, you may also see a tab for short stories or poems.
Left: Old novelist search card. Center: New tabs for books and stories. Law: Tab Poems.
Artist: Art periods
When looking for an artist, the new card has a new tab for the art period in which they fit. The information was previously available in the main map, but you now get large and pretty thumbnails. This should simplify the conditions for those of us who can not distinguish their expressionism from their surrealism.
Left: Result of old artists. Middle & RLight: New card with dedicated tab "Periods".
Celebrities: Quotes, books, movies
The celebrities who do not fit into the categories discussed above have also received a revision of their search card. The biggest change is adding tabs for quotes, books they write (if applicable), and movies and videos in which they appeared.
New celebrity cards with tabs for quotes, movies / videos, books, news and more.
It's funny to note that the results for the same kind of celebrity are not consistent. Take politicians, for example, and you'll see that Putin receives both news and quotes tabs, while Trump does not have quotes tabs and Merkel does not have news tabs. Make it what you want …
Tabs in politician search results are not very consistent. No comment.
Food ingredients: top recipes
If you look up ingredients such as fruits and vegetables, animal products or dairy products, you will find a new tab with recipes. It offers several meal ideas as well as filters to narrow down the suggestions. This can help you to get an idea of how an obscure ingredient is used and what it can be mixed with.
Left: Old search card for food. Middle right: New card with recipes and filters.
Other: Nothing really new
I spent some time searching other types of searches to try to trigger the new map look, but mostly came back with the older or new design without any significant changes. Similar to the term "Android", the biggest difference seems to be the new header color and a tabbed layout for existing data: animal breeds, classification for plants, compositions for composers (Er), structures for architects, etc …
Left: Old search result map for Android. Law: New.
For everything else, from games to new series, sports events and teams, companies, diseases and more, the result card has not changed at all. Sometimes you even get the bold header and the left-aligned "Follow" button to indicate that these cards have not yet been reworked.
Other search terms call the older search cards.
Since we got used to it, this is a server-side change. Some of you may already have seen these new maps when we talked about them in December, but most of them have not yet. I say "most" because the new layout of the weather map and the movie / TV series (plus show times) seems to be visible to everyone. I can see them on older devices that have not been updated for months and still have the previous design for all other search results.
A specific version of the Google app does not seem to affect the presence of these maps. However, you can always make sure that you have the latest version. Here it is: v9.66.5 at APK Mirror.
