In the State Tretyakov Gallery April 16 opens exhibition with Norwegian expressionist Edvard Munch. Visitors will be able to see it 70 paintings and 30 graphic works, photos & memorial stones from the Munch Museum in Oslo, as well as from the State Museum of Fine Arts named after AS Pushkin. This is the first exhibition in Russia that fully represents the artist's legacy.
Among the exhibitions and the famous photo "The Scream" one of the options stored in the Munch Museum. A separate part of the exhibition – "Munch and Dostoyevsky" – will be devoted to the influence of the work of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky on the formation of Munch's worldview and figurative thinking.
Specially prepared and an international educational program, including readings about the life and work of the expressionist, about the influence of literature and philosophy on his art, game of puppet theater based on the artist's play, the presentation of books and movie screenings. So the first lecture entitled "Screams and Songs by Edvard Munch" by Candidate of Art History by photography historian Elena Yakimovich will be held on April 25. The program also includes speeches by a Scandinavian philologist, specialist in Norwegian literature, Helena Raczynska, art critic Frank Hayfedt, Norwegian Slavicist, philosopher and culturologist Peter Norman Voghe and others.
