Emmerdale actor Paul Copley joins Coronation Street as a mysterious man from Evelyn’s past

Former Emmerdale star Paul Copley joins Coronation Street for a new secret role.

The veteran actor, who also appeared in Downton Abbey and Last Tango In Halifax, is changing the Dales for Weatherfield.

Paul, 75, will play a mysterious man from Evelyn Plummer’s murky past, and they’ve already seen him arrive on set.

He was seen filming in a veterinarian’s surgery alongside fan favorites Maureen Lipman and Alan Halsall with Evelyn’s beloved dog, Cerberus.

Paul will play Arthur, an old friend of Evelyn, but not much else is known about the exciting new story.

Maureen Lipman was seen with Paul, who plays a new mysterious character.

Corrie fans will be speculating on whether Arthur is a relationship, a love interest or a new villain.

It remains to be seen how Arthur will affect family dynamics, with Tyrone Dobbs already struggling after his social services took his children.

Will Arthur give Evelyn some joy? Or is it bringing problems?

Yorkshire actor Paul rose to fame as the protagonist in the BBC’s four-part series Days of Hope in 1975.

He has also appeared in Minder, Queer as Folk and is the narrator of How Clean is Your House?

Soap fans will remember Paul for his brief appearance in Emmerdale in 2018 as Charity Dingle’s father, Obadiah.
