A rule of thumb that applies to all episodes of TV shows with Christmas theme & # 39; s: they will reinforce the drama to wring the absolutely most emotional out of you. It is true for Christmas deliveries, as we explored in December, but it is especially true for Valentine's Day. When a show is already busy with complicated matters of the heart, how can we better escalate things than with a forced romance?
Here are some examples of Valentine's Day episodes: (1) people realize that friends are more important than romantic partners, (2) someone's boyfriend ruined everything by being thoughtless, and (3) the day he enters a very dramatic area before being rescued become the edge of a disaster. That said, we have completed some truly memorable Valentine's Day TV episodes to fully educate you this week with love (or jealousy).
In "The Heartbreak", Kirsten is pumped over her favorite vacation and storms into the shooting of Cupid's bow, but the boys feel less romantic. While Marissa wants to make things normal again after the incident with Oliver about Christmas, Ryan pulls away – and when ex-love is Theresa in the city for a big O.C. bash, drama follows. Elsewhere, Seth and Summer finally have sex in the most perfect representation of the first time teenagers play, with very little frills or build-up, as you might see more dramatic shows (or between Ryan and Marissa down the line). We see them lying in bed – "Well, that was sex," says the summer, while they are lying there and looking away from each other. Cue funny father-son-chats from Sandy, with this amazing Valentine's Day line: "We Cohens are very sexual creatures!" Available on Hulu.
Now it is not technically an episode; Michael Bolton & # 39; s Big, Sexy Valentine & # 39; s Day Special is a stand-alone TV special written by Akiva Schaffer and Scott Aukerman with Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone. In it Michael Bolton has a telethon to have a lot of people having sex on Valentine's Day so that they get children in time for Christmas, because the Santa Claus have made too many toys. It's crazy, of course, but with music and dance and performances from everyone, from Sarah Silverman to Eric André to Fred Armisen, it has everything you need to forget your own Valentines Day misery and just have a big, sexy laugh. Moreover, it is even more proof of the unique comic talent of Michael Bolton – who else could make so many people laugh while also making babies? Available on Netflix.
The best holiday episodes ultimately create a cultural phenomenon – see The O.C.& # 39; S Chrismukkah, or Seinfeld 's Festivus. A relatively less well-known holiday is Parks and recreation& # 39; S Galentine & # 39; s Day, born from not one but two episodes from the series. Both let Leslie throw her annual & # 39; Galentine & # 39; s Day & # 39; brunch for her girlfriends and mother, where they make each other great, chat and complain about men. In the first they try to set up Leslie's mother, but things go wrong, and in the second Leslie tries to find a new best friend before she visits Ann in the hospital after the birth of her son. While all Parks and Rec Episodes of Valentine's Day contain a bit of romance, they are first and foremost about the importance of friendships and the realization that you do not need a partner to be happy – a reminder that some of us have to ask us every time to call our friends and again . Available on Netflix.
In classic Buffy style, our slayer spends most of this episode with Angelus, who becomes especially malevolent during the holiday of love. But the real focus of this episode is Xander, who, frustrated by the rejections of Cordelia, tries to draw a love spell on her but eventually curses the whole school to obsess over him. In 1998 it was funny, but today it serves as a reminder of Xander's poisonous masculinity and right, and a strong lesson in permission. The silver lining: see that Giles tells Xander that he & # 39; fool & # 39; is and women try to deceive to love him, is pretty catharsis. Available on Hulu.
Happy Valentine's Day, Upper East Siders, and get ready for a drama … because, well, it's literal Gossip Girl delivery. Blair tries to play Cupid for Serena and Dan, Georgina tries to drama by plundering a party, and elsewhere there is more misery. But the real focus is that Dan and Blair have a big kiss, despite the fact that Blair is married to the perfectly okay Louis, who is all very tense and stressful – and oh God, these people can not just celebrate a holiday? Yet it is worth a watch to remind yourself why it could be worse – you could be a millionaire and still have the same problems as you already have. Available on Netflix.
Orange is the new black fans generally still mourn the loss of Poussey Washington, so maybe you do not have the Valentine's Day episode "You do not have pizza" either if you feel particularly sensitive. But there is a lot to enjoy here. Because the prisoners can not go anywhere, the best parts of this episode are all very much based on dialogue, because they bake cookies, have their own romantic problems and share their own definitions of love. Poussey delivers a short speech in which she calls love "kick with someone, talk, make crazy stupid jokes" and "do not even want to go to sleep, because maybe you're without them for a minute, and you do not want that," let the audience (especially in hindsight) in tears behind. Available on Netflix.
These episodes all explore different aspects of romance and sex, and at this early stage New girl episode Schmidt, Cece and Jess are looking for someone who can fuck Jess, because she has the & # 39; dirty curls & # 39; has. Schmidt tries to convince her that she needs a one-night stand with someone who cares about her, so she goes over the hall to do it with him … only to discover that he is already working with Cece. & # 39; Valentine's Day & # 39; is a fun episode that shows how romance and sex have turned us out of their character, with our usually very tense Jess who tries to do it with her friend and roommate in an attempt to defraud herself from the dirty curls & # 39; 39 ;. Nick and Winston are a bit more lucky – for once. Available on Netflix.
If you ever feel lonely, remember that no one has ever felt less love than the gang It is always sunny in Philadelphia. In later seasons they have strayed to a more concept area with episodes like "The Gang Turns Black" which often fall a bit flat. In & # 39; The Gang Tends Bar & # 39; they bring it back to basics, actually working in the bar on Valentine's Day – until they decide to open a crate in the alley instead. The gang is suspicious about why Dennis is so obsessed with getting to work, and Dee is hurt when she sends Charlie a Valentine, but he writes one for Frank and the tapeworm he got himself. They fight naturally and eventually open the coffin – which contains a grenade with rocket – and they are united by violence. In front of Sunny in Phillythat is true romance. Available on Hulu.
All great Arrested development episodes rely heavily on misunderstandings or on things that do not have the desired result, and this is no exception. In & # 39; Marta Complex & # 39 ;, Michael gives a passionate speech about love during Lucille's valentines party, which makes Marta, the girlfriend of Gob, realize that he is the brother she actually wants to marry. Michael realizes that Marta loves him, but the speech has other unintended consequences – as Lindsay realizes that she must eventually divorce Tobias. Lucille, afraid to be alone, visits George in prison, but eventually learns to love her own business. Although it is rarely heart-heated by one Arrested development In the episode, Lucille's attempts to love himself are a valuable message for all of us on a possible lonely vacation. If you are alone, go and buy wine. You feel better. Available on Netflix.
When Britta Jeff calls drunk for the Greendale Valentine's Day dance, Jeff challenges her for the Booty Call Implication (BCI) – so the gang decides that there is nothing to do but force Jeff to embarrass himself again. In the meantime, Troy and Pierce, who have not received gifts for V-Day, send something to themselves, resulting in further humiliation. And when Chang laughs at them, Annie and Shirley try to avenge Chang in revenge; Troy and Pierce are touched by the gesture. The whole episode is a cycle of humiliation in which friends try to make each other feel better, which, apart from how terrible it is, is pretty sweet. Available on Hulu.
Best friends episodes revolve around old-fashioned camaraderie and comedy. In this episode, intragroup drama is everywhere, with Joey who loves Rachel, Ross tells, and makes a dog depressive, and with Ross tries to tell Mona that he lives with Rachel, but is in a web. That is not as much fun as Chandler, because he thinks it's porn, and accidentally looks at a birth video that Ross left behind at his home. Monica also looks at it, ruining their Valentine's Day and covering them both. Rachel tries to watch the birth video again, but it turns out she has the porn movie Monica did for Chandler. It is very nice and a reminder that your friends are the only constant. Available on Netflix.
In this early but memorable one 30 Rock gemstone, Jenna has problems with "Vagina Dag" (not to mention Frank who constantly says he would "kill" Jenna in "Marry, Boff, Kill"), and Jack and Bianca try to complete their divorce. Jack picks up a sex worker (an exceptional Rachel Dratch) in an attempt to find his wife and, on the way, ruins Tracy's Valentine's Day. But the next day he succeeds in completing his divorce papers and in spite of sexual escalation, Bianca eventually rises. Liz of course has her own misunderstanding when she receives a gift from a secret admirer – that turned out to be a "law stylist" and meant for his wife, Liz Lemler. (This will lead to a first-class recurring bow with the same lawyer, played by Jason Sudeikis.) "Up All Night" is a busy, fun V-Day episode that shows Liz Lemon at her best – as always, helping and neglecting everyone to take care of her own life. Happy Valentine's Day? Available on Hulu.
