Education: Students from Krems visit Otto Flemmich’s silk weaving mill

The traditional Viennese costume fabric company Otto Flemmich KG opened their doors to us.

KREMS/ VIENNA. During an eventful course at the Flemmich silk weaving mill in Vienna, the 3HLM and 4HLM of the HLM HLW Krems experienced the weaving process up close. Entrepreneur Flemmich’s personal tour of the company, which has existed since 1863, provided breathtaking insights into the modern production of high-quality silk, viscose and many jacquard fabrics as well as the exciting history of weaving and the company’s own history in Europe.

Visit production rooms

The schoolgirls were not only able to visit all the production rooms, but also to follow the many individual work steps to the finished, precious jacquard textile live.
The excursion, which lasted several hours, aroused a great deal of interest in textile work among the students. Some even liked the visit so much that they want to include the subject of weaving in their final thesis.

Boss answers questions

Thanks go to Georg Flemmich for the great insight including answering our numerous questions as well as the commitment and the opportunity to visit.
