Education raises the offer for teacher examinations to 1,240 places

The Ministry of Education has left 1,240 places the final offer for next year’s teacher oppositions after meeting the leadership of this department of the Community with the unions in the Sectorial Table. The previous offer was based on offering the 12,000 opponents who are preparing the tests about 1,072 places, so Education has added 168 more for the call for next June. Among other issues, the trade union organizations and the Ministry have also closed the public employment offer for the 2023 Secondary and FP examinations, leaving a total of 963 places.

The call for Infant and Primary comes with the urgency to cover numerous retirements that have been accumulating since 2019, when the last test to access a civil servant position in Infant and Primary was held and which had an offer of 1,300 places. With this, the Ministry plans to award more than 2,000 places in the next two years. The unions had demanded to reach the minimum of 1,200 places for teachers, a point in which Education has yielded after the negotiations on Wednesday in the Sectorial Table.

Education has distributed the number of places among the specialties, 28 of them still pending. Thus, teachers who opt for Early Childhood Education will have the option of occupying one of the 270 places on offer, while for Primary Education the figure reaches 222. In the case of Therapeutic Pedagogy for Special Education, the Ministry proposes 188 places, another 186 for English, 128 for Physical Education, 88 for Hearing and Language, 80 for Music and 50 for French.
