Education – Mainz – Land concludes contracts: computer deliveries to schools – education

Mainz (dpa / lrs) – The Ministry of Education has concluded framework agreements with two companies to supply schools with computers. Overall, the municipal, church and independent school authorities can access up to 400,000 notebooks and 150,000 tablet computers worth more than 200 million euros, as the ministry announced on Friday in Mainz.

The school authorities no longer have to organize their own procurement procedures and can procure digital devices quickly and easily, explained Minister of Education Stefanie Hubig (SPD). “This is a real relief from which our students and our teachers will of course benefit.”

The framework agreements were preceded by two Europe-wide tenders. The purchase of the devices comes with a three-year on-site guarantee and technical support from the provider. This means additional relief for the schools, said the minister. Last year, more than 70,000 devices for schoolchildren were financed with funds from the state’s supplementary budget and via an immediate equipment program of the digital pact with the federal government. In addition, 45,000 end devices for teachers were procured.
