Drive for five Garth Brooks concerts as the line-up continues

The campaign for five Garth Brooks concerts at Croke Park next September has been launched.

Demand for the first two concerts on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 September very quickly exceeded supply and a third date on Monday 11 September was added.

Promoter Peter Aiken added two more dates, Friday September 16 and Saturday September 17.

At 8:10 am, more than 280,000 people were waiting to buy tickets for the concerts on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 September.

By 10:10 pm Thursday morning, 200,000 tickets had been sold and as many more were still lining up in line to buy.

A building permit has been granted for a total of five.

The country singer’s previous five concerts on-site in 2014 were canceled due to residents’ objections and Dublin City Council’s refusal to grant a building permit for the events.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Brooks played down the possibility of being able to sell five concerts this time around.

Referring to the canceled dates, he said he hoped there would be a “blessing in this curse and now I hope we have a chance to play against Ireland”.

When asked if he would like to do five shows again, he replied, “I would love to, but I would also like to be six foot five and have abs.

“You had 400,000 tickets in a city and a show. It is out of the question that we repeat these figures. Would I like it? Yes. Is this going to happen? I think it would be impossible.

Promoter Peter Aiken said he was “relieved and thrilled” by the response to the concerts being put up for sale.

“He’s bigger than he was last time around. There were 100,000 people logged into Ticketmaster before the concerts went on sale.

“It’s inconceivable, even in the United States. You would normally expect 30,000 to 40,000 people in line for a big outdoor show.

Ticketmaster is currently managing the system so that it doesn’t crash and lets people in in installments.

Mr. Aiken added that he should know by lunchtime what sales will look like for the five shows.
