According to cynologists, proper nutrition for a growing dog means a lot. This is not just a satisfaction of hunger, but also a guarantee of good health. At the same time, milk can only do harm, representatives of the Russian Cynological Federation warned.
Mother’s milk for puppies is a source of important substances necessary for growth. However, this is true for newborn babies. Other types of milk for already grown puppies will not be nutritious enough and are less digestible.
The fact is that dog milk contains much less lactose. And when puppies stop needing it, their body stops producing an enzyme that can process lactose. This leads to digestive problems: bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain.
Therefore, the puppy must be provided with proper nutrition with a balanced diet suitable for age and breed. The diet should be built gradually and up to 3 months to feed 4-5 times a day. It is very important to maintain equal intervals between feeding, so as not to overload the pet’s digestive tract.
And only at 4–6 months the young animal is transferred to three meals a day, and then to two meals a day. An adult dog should eat in the morning and in the evening.
