Chaos Erupts During Arrest Attempt
A volatile situation unfolded in Kampung Baru, harjamukti, Depok, West Java, as a crowd set fire to three police vehicles. the incident occurred during an attempt by law enforcement to apprehend a local community institution leader suspected of involvement in violent acts. As of this morning, two suspects have been taken into custody and are being processed by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.

The events transpired on Friday, April 18th, when the Depok Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit executed an order to bring in individuals connected to alleged criminal activities. The suspects are implicated in two police reports citing Articles 351 and 335 of the Criminal Code, along with the Emergency Law concerning firearms. these charges relate to acts of destruction, disorderly conduct, and illegal possession of firearms.

According to police reports,the individual had been summoned twice for questioning but failed to appear,leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant.
Escalation of Violence
Around 1:30 AM, a team of fourteen officers arrived at the location to apprehend the suspect. Upon locating the individual, they were met with fierce resistance from local residents. The crowd’s opposition quickly escalated into a violent confrontation.
Despite the resistance, officers managed to secure the suspect. Though, as they attempted to transport the individual to the Depok Metro Police station, they were pursued by a large group of residents. This chase resulted in three of the four police vehicles becoming trapped.
While one vehicle managed to escape and reach the police station, the remaining three were cornered and subsequently set ablaze by the mob.

While the situation was undoubtedly dangerous, authorities have reported that no officers sustained serious injuries during the incident. Despite the intensity of the confrontation, personnel managed to avoid major physical harm.
