A deer in Georgia is free after being found with a PVC pipe encircling its neck. Neighbors reported the animal’s distress, leading to a prosperous rescue.

Nearly three weeks prior to the rescue, resident Karen Tyson noticed the young deer struggling with the pipe in Jasper, a town situated approximately one hour north of Atlanta.

After spotting the deer, Tyson contacted the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Personnel were able to tranquilize the deer, allowing them to safely remove the pipe.

According to Tyson, the PVC pipe originated from a poorly designed deer feeder.

Rescuers informed Tyson that the deer was generally healthy, with only minor hair loss resulting from the pipe’s friction.

“Crews told her the deer was in good health except for some slight hair loss from the pipe rubbing against him.”
