Bell’s death was revealed on June 16 in a Facebook post shared by his sister, Jalene Kanani Bell. “It is with regret that I share that my sweet, generous, talented, funny, brilliant and beautiful little brother David HK Bell spends today in the company of our father of heaven,” reads the publication.
Now, more than two months after the actor’s death, the autopsy, held on June 19 and completed on July 10, reveals that Bell died of acute respiratory failure, sepsis, hypertensive/atherosclerotic heart disease and morbid obesity, according to People magazine.
According to Cleveland Clinic, atherosclerosis is the “accumulation of fats, cholesterol and other substances inside and on the artery walls”, also known as the plate, which can “cause narrowing of the arteries, blocking blood flow” or rupture, “leading to the formation of a blood clot”.
The autopsy also revealed that Bell had stasis dermatitis (skin disease caused by poor blood circulation in the legs) and edema (swelling that occurs when the fluid accumulates in the tissues of the lower limbs).
Toxicological examination states that there was no evidence of drugs or alcohol in the Bell’s body.
According to the Hawaii Police Department, Bell’s investigation was completed and there is no suspicion of crime.
The actor was known for his role in “Lilo & Stitch”, but also participated in the remakes of the Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum PI series, as well as advertising from Kona Brewing.
