He is the host of the podcast Gossip Guy and once participated in The traitorsbut in The masked singer Ender Scholtens (26) showed his most amorous side. Or so he tried. As Cupid he would have liked to steal the hearts of watching Flanders, but it was not to be. “It was still great fun,” Scholtens reflects. “When else would I be on a stage like that?”

Secret
Unfortunately for Ender, his adventure proved short-lived. “That saves me a lot of white lies,” he says. “And a good thing too, because I hate lying. Now I had to keep quiet, and even that was difficult for me. Have I informed many people? My friend Claudia (De Greef, red.)and my parents. I couldn’t keep it a secret from my mom. She was very enthusiastic and also told my father. But no one else knew about it, I guess. Then Ooohoo (Toby Alderweireld, red.) had not yet been unmasked, my mother-in-law asked whether I was in that suit. I wisely ignored those messages.”

Who really with the guessing game was busy, could have found a tip in Scholtens’ room. “My suit was reminiscent of a kind of LEGO figure,” he explains. “A while back I bought the actual Cupid man from the toy brand, but no one noticed. (laughs)”
Lots of love
Although Cupid was not the most agile suit to perform with. “I could barely see anything. My body had to tilt backwards and then I could just look out through the mouth, but that was minimal. Moreover, the head was very oppressive to sing in,” says Scholtens. “It was also difficult for me to move, because every little movement was invisible because of that robust suit. I had to seriously magnify every movement. It was absurd.”
