Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo, Italian champion on Sunday with Juventus, is said to have invited his club leaders to recruit Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to the Spanish weekly Don Bal³n.

“CR7 would have recommended the signing of a defender for Juve due to the adaptation problems of Dutchman Matthijs de Ligt and the upcoming departure of Giorgio Chiellini, who, 35, is struggling to redo his past performances,” writes Don Bal³n on its website.

The defender desired by the 35-year-old Portuguese “is Kalidou Koulibaly”, according to the Barcelona-based newspaper dedicated solely to football.

“The one who is presented as the best central defender of the Italian Serie A has become one of the leaders of Naples, but Aurelio De Laurentiis (the president of Naples) refused to sell him several times”, recalls the weekly, making allusion Koulibaly.

“Now he would have set a price (100 million euros, the equivalent of 65 billion CFA francs), and the institution of Juventus is ready to pay it”, adds the Spanish newspaper.

According to the same media outlet, Cristiano Ronaldo, who arrived in Italy from Real Madrid, told his club leaders to look at the Senegalese defender to make Juventus more competitive.

“La Vecchia Signora (Juventus) has not yet reached the level of competitiveness announced, which makes doubt the Portuguese striker who has a contract valid until 2022”, adds Don Bal³n.

“At 35, time begins to be counted in a certain way for the Portuguese. And for this reason, Andrea Agnelli and Pavel Nedved (the president and sports director of Juventus) would travel to probe the market, ”continues the Spanish weekly.

Juventus, after having already recruited a former Naples, the Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain, will have to face the English clubs of Manchester United and Manchester City. With Paris Saint-Germain too, which would have returned the charge, according to several media.

At Juventus, a club in the running for the Champions League, we are also waiting for the arrival of Arthur Melo (FC Barcelona) and another striker to replace Higuain.
