Tuscany, 14 September 2020 – In Tuscany, there are 13,173 cases of Coronavirus positivity, 59 more than yesterday (24 identified in the course of tracing and 35 from screening activities). New cases are 0.4% more than the previous day’s total. The average age of 59 cases today is around 43 years (24% are under 26, 28% between 26 and 40, 24% between 41 and 65, 24% are over 65) and, as regards the clinical states, 70% were asymptomatic, 18% pauci-symptomatic. Of today’s 59 positivity, 1 case can be linked to returns from abroad. 2 cases referable to citizens residing outside the region, identified thanks to the controls activated in the ports and stations with the ordinance n.80 of the Tuscany Region. 49% of the cases are a contact linked to a previous case. The healed grew by 0.2% and reached 9,523 (72.3% of total cases). The swabs performed reached 633,578, 3,377 more than yesterday. The currently positive are 2,500 today, + 1.7% compared to yesterday. There are 100 hospitalized (3 more than yesterday), of which 18 in intensive care (1 more). Today there is 1 new death: a 51-year-old man in Prato. These are the data – ascertained at 12 noon today on the basis of requests from the National Civil Protection – relating to the progress of the epidemic in the region. It should be remembered that starting from 24 June 2020, the Ministry of Health has changed the data collection system on the spread of Covid-19. Positive cases are no longer indicated according to the province of notification but according to the province of residence or domicile. The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change compared to yesterday. There are 3,929 total cases to date in Florence (2 more than yesterday), 731 in Prato, 925 in Pistoia (7 more), 1,420 in Massa (11 more), 1,642 in Lucca, 1,236 in Pisa (3 in plus), 641 in Livorno (3 more), 1,022 in Arezzo (26 more), 550 in Siena, 538 in Grosseto (5 more). There are 539 positive cases reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions (2 more). There are therefore 9 cases found today in the ASL Center, 17 in the North West, 31 in the South East. Tuscany is confirmed in 10th place in Italy in terms of number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with about 353 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (Italian average about 477 x100,000, yesterday’s figure). The provinces of notification with the highest rate are Massa Carrara with 729 cases x100,000 inhabitants, Lucca with 423, Florence with 388, the lowest Livorno with 191. Overall, 2,400 people are in isolation at home, as they have mild symptoms that they do not require hospital treatment or are symptom-free (38 more than yesterday, plus 1.6%). There are 4,127 (26 more than yesterday, plus 0.6%) people, also isolated, in active surveillance, because they have had contact with infected people (Asl Centro 1.595, North West 1.798, South East 734). The people hospitalized in the beds dedicated to Covid patients today are a total of 100 (3 more than yesterday, plus 3.1%), 18 in intensive care (1 more than yesterday, plus 5.9%). The total number of people healed are 9,523 (17 more than yesterday, plus 0.2%): 201 clinically healed people (stable compared to yesterday), that is, who became asymptomatic after presenting clinical manifestations associated with the infection and 9,322 (17 more compared to yesterday, plus 0.2%) declared completely cured, the so-called viral healings, with double negative swab. Today there is 1 new death: a 51-year-old man. Regarding the province of notification, the deceased person is in Prato. 1,150 have died since the beginning of the epidemic as follows: 418 in Florence, 53 in Prato, 81 in Pistoia, 176 in Massa Carrara, 148 in Lucca, 93 in Pisa, 65 in Livorno, 50 in Arezzo, 33 in Siena, 25 in Grosseto, 8 people died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region. The Tuscan raw mortality rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 30.8 x100.000 residents against 59.0 x100.000 of the Italian average (11th region). As for the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (90.3 x100.000), Florence (41.3 x100.000) and Lucca (38.2 x100.000), the lowest in Grosseto (11.3 x100.000).
