It’s well known, the coffee machine is the most important place in a business. The one where the magic of impromptu encounters is practiced. Where, sometimes, comes the great idea that was missing and, almost always, these little exchanges between colleagues that make work more than a livelihood.
Yes, but there it is. There are all these employees who, told to telecommute, have deserted the premises of companies. And all those who have returned but no longer want to touch anything. Suddenly, this is the big economic breakdown for vending machines for drinks and treats.
Turnover that has dropped
Turnover – 2.9 billion euros in 2019 – has fallen by 80 to 100% in recent weeks. And the National Union Chamber of Sales and Automatic Services (Navsa) fears that it will get worse if companies and managers of stations, airports or service stations permanently condemn the use of 600,000 distributors in service in France. However, these shiny machines employ no less than 55,000 people.
Navsa President Pierre Albrieux deplores the fact that some
job descriptions on the sanitary rules to be applied in companies during the pandemic encourage to break with the distributors. However, he recalls, the operators of automata apply themselves and recommend to users strict protocols, which are satisfactory even in hospitals. In any case, if distributors are banned, Pierre Albrieux is ready to go to court. So, for or against? What if we discussed it at the coffee machine?
