PSV coach Roger Schmidt gets his much-wanted reinforcement from the vanguard at the last minute. Carlos Vinícius is rented for two seasons from the Portuguese Benfica.
The 26-year-old Vinicius, on whom PSV has also negotiated an option to purchase, is, according to director of football affairs John de Jong, “a complete striker, who in particular adds strength and length to our attacking line.”
Vinicius played on loan at Tottenham Hotspur last season, where he – unsurprisingly – lost the competition to Harry Kane. The Brazilian says he has settled in Eindhoven “to score goals and become champions”.
The new number 9 of PSV started his career with Santos, in Brazil. Via Palmeiras, AA Caldense, Anápolis-GO, Real SC, Napoli and AS Monaco, he ended up at Benfica in 2019 for 17 million euros.
