A Tradition of Laughter: The Saint-Sulpice Theater Troupe

For over four decades, the theater troupe from Saint-Sulpice has been a cornerstone of entertainment in Périgord vert, consistently delivering crowd-pleasing boulevard comedies and rustic peasant farces. This spring, they are set to grace the stage once again in Saint-Sulpice-de-Roumagnac, with performances scheduled for Saturdays, April 5th and 12th.

Modern Love Meets Rural Charm: A Two-Part Theatrical Evening

The theatrical evenings promise a blend of contemporary humor and conventional charm. The program features two distinct comedic pieces, ensuring a diverse and engaging experience for the audience.

Part 1: “Me is You” – A Comedy of Modern Connection

The first act, Me is You, penned by Régis porte, plunges into the complexities of modern romance in the digital age. Set in 2025, the play explores the premise of finding love through computer algorithms. Clara and Émilie soon discover the potential pitfalls of entrusting their hearts to technology, as unexpected encounters and misunderstandings ensue. The arrival of a meddling mother-in-law and a former flame only adds to the comedic chaos. This 40-minute boulevard comedy promises suspense and laughter as it navigates the unpredictable terrain of love in the 21st century.

Part 2: “We Will Marry Fernand” – A Rustic Romp

Following an intermission for refreshments, the stage transforms into a traditional country kitchen for we Will Marry fernand, a three-act comedy by Piou Dahenne. This play embodies the classic elements of peasant comedies, showcasing the talents of Maryse as Marie, Frédéric as Fernand, and Jojo Martin in a particularly audacious role. Mireille embodies an older character, while Isabelle adopts a British accent, adding to the comedic effect. Expect 35 minutes of unadulterated laughter and a surprising conclusion in this celebration of rural life.

Mireille Dubourg, the president of the theater group, expresses her excitement and confidence in the troupe’s readiness.We have worked well for months, the sets are fixed. We are ready. The group has been diligently preparing throughout the winter, culminating in these spring performances. The troupe also benefited from the expertise of Lorette Goosse, an actress, author, and director, whose early March interventions provided valuable guidance and refinement.
