It has been a breeding and habitat for sea turtles since ancient times, and is called “Kaigame Bay” by the locals.

The reserve was established in 1985 and was promoted to national level in 1992. Over the last few decades, protected wild sea turtles have laid a cumulative total of more than 80,000 eggs, about 70,000 hatched and more than 60,000 released. From April 1st to the present, eight fully artificially propagated sea turtles have laid more than 1,000 eggs.
