Capitec Lender insists its infrastructure troubles are inner and that its programs have not been hacked.
Buyers have had problems or inability to entry their Capitec mobile banking application, USSD and on the internet banking solutions given that Thursday morning owing to “infrastructure problems” with the central server that supports the banking channel. Only bank ATMs and lender cards can be applied for transactions.
“We can guarantee you that this is an interior infrastructure situation and that our customers’ funds or knowledge are in no way at chance,” Capitec spokesman Francois Viviers stated in a statement unveiled Friday.
Viviers explained the bank’s technical crew experienced discovered the problem and experienced been operating all around the clock to suitable it.
He stated all Capitec solutions should resume by Saturday morning, which would be communicated to customers via the bank’s formal channels.
“We realise this has analyzed people’s trust in Capitec as a model and we apologise for the inconvenience this has brought on,” he added.
