Established for decades in Rock, a town west of Caen (Calvados), the traditional music festival did not take place for the second year in a row. However, the town did not let it down.
At the initiative of Jacky Besnier Deputy Mayor in charge of Culture, Sport and Community Life, a team of around twenty people made up of elected officials and volunteer residents has been formed around a new concept activities: Animating the town differently.
“The group will operate on the principle of direct management,” explains Jacky Besnier. “The commune of Rots has chosen to reserve a privileged place for French song. “
We have set up the organization of a monthly show, in the form of a cabaret song, at an unusual schedule 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on weekdays to promote regional artists. They are professional artists, not necessarily all known to the general public but some of whom have provided the first part of concerts by renowned stars.
“Our objectives are to create a link between the inhabitants of the three villages which make up the new commune of Rots, to promote intergenerational links with song shows, to create a recognized venue for French song and to compose a core of loyal spectators. It is also one of our objectives to whet the public’s curiosity. “
Five concerts until December
Five cabaret song evenings are scheduled for the second half of 2021. The first will be on Monday June 28 “The memory of refrains” with Sylviane Lebon. With Laurence Legrix on the accordion and Marlène Blouin on the keyboards, she amazes and entertains her audience, taking them to Paris to hang out in the districts of the capital.
The other dates will be: Friday September 24 with Léonie Fer, Friday October 22 with Laurent Piquot, Monday November 22 with Nérac and Monday December 13 with Eskélina.
Where is it and how does it work?
The evenings take place at the Rots entertainment center. Round tables will be set up within a limit of 65%, ie 195 spectators, initially to take sanitary measures. In terms of sound and lights, the town has made a significant investment and thus has high-end equipment. € 20,000 is the sum (in calendar year) that the municipality will invest to offer these cabaret chanson shows at attractive prices and accessible to all.
What are the prices ?
The prices charged will be 10 €. They can be reduced to € 8 by purchasing a subscription card (13 to 17 years old, € 5 and free for children 12 and under).
