6 p.m. I made a salad with smoked trout, spinach, tomatoes, green apple (but any type of apple will work) and some lemon juice.
7 p.m. Breaux Capital will launch a marketing campaign tomorrow. It’s all caps: dad’s hats, like a curved baseball cap, with different textures, colors and tones. We have many parents in the Breaux Capital network, and I am very proud of that. They are all black men, so we had to think of something that would naturally fit our culture. If you buy a shirt, not everyone will wear it; Some people like the button. If we make a hat, not everyone is interested in that.
We have the images of social networks ready to use, so I review the communication we are sending to our owners about the sale of the merchandise. It is a bit complicated because the limits are physically in different centers, and if we have sales there are about seven different steps to take them to the customer. We want to make sure everyone knows their role and is clear.
5:15 p.m. I leave the office to get to the bus station. I come and go to Chicago almost every weekend on the Indian Trails bus. It is where Theodora, my girlfriend, the future bride lives. I have not proposed yet, but it will happen later in the year. I can’t share the details without spilling, but she knows it’s coming. We have to be out of the country to do it. I want to be very, very relaxed, and I want to be on vacation. I don’t want to be even remotely close to work.
She is a clean energy consultant. She does a very good job for a boutique consulting agency. They work with larger utilities in their clean energy program for low-income residents. Something like LED bulbs, how do we guarantee equitable access to those things so that low-income communities have access to clean energy too? We have to lessen the impact of global warming.
8:20 p.m. I wake up from a nap and do some reading. Right now I am working on a book called “Inspired: how to create technological products that customers love”. It’s for my job in the state of Michigan, but I’m also interested in becoming a better designer. I learned to design my company’s websites by reading books, so I know that reading is important.
11:15 p.m. My bus arrives in Chicago six hours later. I register with my girlfriend and then fall asleep.
