Starting the sale is scheduled for September. Initially, the series of models will be fairly modest. The GAC GS5 should become the flagship of demand – in China, a cross-over front-wheel drive costs $ 18,000 (1,180,000 rubles). At home, the model is equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 152 hp. (235 Nm) or 169 hp (270 Nm). The main gearbox is the Aisin six-speed automatic, although there is also a basic version with a manual gearbox.
The dimensions of the GAC GS5 are larger than the Hyundai Tucson, but smaller than the Hyundai Santa Fe: length – 4,695 mm, width – 1,885 mm, height – 1,700 mm and wheelbase – 2,710 mm. And if the Chinese make the price tags attractive, a handsome (and especially – large) SUV will be able to find a buyer.
In addition, the Chinese will offer a large GAC GS8 crossover. This is a classmate of the Toyota Highlander: 4,810 mm long, 1,910 wide, 1,770 mm high and the distance between the axles is 2,800 mm. The only engine is a two-liter petrol turbo engine (201 hp, 320 Nm), which connects the six-band automatic Aisin. The i-4WD transmission on all wheels is based on the BorgWarner slat coupling for connecting the rear wheels.
Close the list of models of luxury minibus GAC GM8. The five meter long mono body (length – 5.066 mm) is built on the platform of the above-mentioned GAC GS8 crossover, but the drive is strictly forward. Besides, the architecture of both models has a noble origin: Fiat sold this platform to the Chinese, so the closest relative of the GAC cars is the beauty of Alfa Romeo 166. Admittedly, the GAC engineers have the original design strengthened.
For five years, the brand wants to reach 50,000 cars, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports with reference to GAC Motor President Yu Jun. For comparison: Ford, which is leaving the Russian market, was able to sell comparable 53,000 cars last year! Certainly, the rumors that the GAC is ready to buy the Ford plant in Vsevolozhsk have not been confirmed – the Chinese brand is not yet planning to locate cars.
