President Trump's campaign leader, Brad Parscale, responded Tuesday to the news that CNN hired John Kasich, a possible primary Republican rival from 2020, by defeating both the former governor of Ohio and his new network.
"Shocker … @ CNN, the aquarium for Republican never-Trump swamp creatures, who have no real supporters outside of their own green room, adds this original swamp to their collection of nobodies," wrote Parscale on Twitter.
CNN said that Kasich will appear as a political commentator on multiple program's, making his debut Tuesday night at "Cuomo Prime Time."
Kasich, who competed successfully against Trump in 2016 for the GOP nomination, has since become one of the most frequent critics of the president within the Republican party. Kasich has not ruled out a primary challenge for Trump in 2020.
CNN is one of Trump's favorite targets in his attacks on the media, which he routinely refers to as' fake news & # 39 ;. He once retweeted a cartoon that has a train with the label & # 39; Trump & # 39; a person with a CNN logo on his face.
In the past, CNN and other networks have broken ties with commentators when it became clear that they were looking for a political function.
