New figures show that house prices in the north west have risen faster than in any other region in England.
Real estate website Rightmove says that the asking prices in March increased by 2.2% month on month, only surpassed by Scotland (3.3%).
However, the national average price tag of a house is 0.8% lower than a year ago.
Across Great Britain, the average asking price for a home in March is £ 302,002, the company said.
The buying activity remains cooler than normal, with hesitation, because some buyers are waiting for a more regulated political climate.
