The high-end iPic cinema will close its location in Scottsdale at the end of January.
The Scottsdale Theater announced that its latest film screening will take place on January 30 due to “financial restructuring. “
Based in Boca Raton, Florida, the theater chain applied for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2019, and was purchased by the Alabama Retirement System, which oversees state employee pensions.
Located in the Scottsdale Quarter MallNear Scottsdale Road and Kierland Boulevard, iPic provided luxury leather recliners and dining options in the theater.
Of the high-end theaters in the Phoenix area, iPic was one of the most expensive, with tickets ranging from $ 17 to $ 27 per movie.
How to get an iPic refund
The Scottsdale iPic location offers reimbursements to customers for the theater membership rewards program, gift cards and presale tickets. Customers can request a refund by visiting the guest services counter at the Scottsdale location until January 30, or by calling the theater directly until March 31.
There are 15 iPic theaters remaining in California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Texas and Washington. According to the company’s website, there are no more planned closures at this time.
“We will continue to operate and offer a premium cinema and restaurant experience for dinner to all our loyal customers,” reads a message on the iPic Scottsdale website. “We still have future growth and development plans to bring the iPic experience to new markets and guests.”
