The product, under the “Bily Retractable Safety Gate” brand, is produced by Elfe Juvenile Products and sold nationwide.
According to the Health Canada withdrawal notice, it is estimated that 26,108 of the doors were sold in Canada from June to December 2019.
Symptoms of barium poisoning may include vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, muscle weakness and even paralysis if left untreated. The chemical can be found in commercial and medical items.
The company has not received any reports of injuries in Canada as of January 10, 2019.
The doors are available in black or white with a manufacturing date code label on the bottom.
Health Canada said that anyone with the product should stop using it immediately and request a repair kit from the company at 1-800-667-8184 or by sending an email to [email protected]
