Firefighting efforts are underway in two Massachusetts communities following weekend brush fires. Salem and Beverly were the focal points of these blazes, with fires still impacting residential areas and surrounding woodlands.
Salem, Massachusetts: A Brush Fire Near Highland Avenue and Cain Road
A significant brush fire broke out on Saturday night near Highland Avenue and Cain Road in Salem. Firefighters confirmed that the blaze started near a day camp and quickly spread across 47 acres of woodlands. While no structures were damaged, flames came within 30 feet of a nearby condo complex off Tanglewood Lane.
Resident Betsy Cassidy described the scene: "There was smoke all in that area and you could see the flames; it was really bright orange." While the fire was not a threat directly to her condo, Cassidy admits it left her feeling anxious.

Earlier that same day, another brush fire erupted near Wenham Lake in Beverly. The blaze started behind an Aubuchon Hardware and fire crews responded promptly to contain it. The cause of this fire is still under investigation.

Massachusetts continues to face elevated fire risks due to current dry conditions. The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for Southern New Hampshire, highlighting the ongoing danger.
