South Beach Night Turns Sour: Brooklyn woman Faces Charges

A 29-year-old woman from Brooklyn,Brittney Scott,found herself in handcuffs this Tuesday,accused of a violent assault and theft following a night out in Miami’s vibrant South Beach. The incident,which occurred in October of last year,allegedly involved striking a man with a wine bottle,making unauthorized charges on his credit cards,and absconding with a valuable Rolex watch.

The Sequence of Events: From Saxony Bar to alleged Assault

According to reports from the Miami Police Department, the victim met Scott at the Saxony Bar in South Beach. He then invited her back to his apartment near Northeast 27th Street in the early hours of October 20th. The pair arrived at approximately 3:00 AM,and the victim recalls sharing a drink with Scott before his memory becomes fragmented.

Later that morning, around 7:00 AM, another resident of the apartment discovered the victim with a head wound, bleeding from a cut near his right eyebrow. A broken wine bottle lay nearby,suggesting a possible weapon. The victim, disoriented, could only recall having a drink with Scott prior to the incident.

Waking Up to Loss: Stolen Rolex and Fraudulent Charges

The full extent of the situation became clear when the victim awoke to fraud alerts on his phone.he discovered that his wallet and his Rolex watch, estimated to be worth $13,000, were missing. This type of theft is not uncommon,with luxury watches being a frequent target for criminals. According to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, property crimes, including larceny-theft, remain a significant concern in urban areas.

Surveillance Footage and Police Investigation

Law enforcement officials reviewed surveillance footage from the apartment building, which showed Scott arriving with the victim shortly after 3:00 AM and leaving alone approximately 45 minutes later.This evidence, combined with the victim’s recollection of being struck with a bottle, painted a clearer picture of the alleged crime.

Detectives collaborated with the Sunrise Police Department after the victim recalled that his credit cards were used at Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sunrise. This collaboration proved fruitful, as Scott had previously been arrested by Miami Beach police in connection with an unrelated first-degree robbery case.

Identification and Arrest

Using facts gathered from the previous arrest, a photo lineup was created, and the victim positively identified Scott as the suspect. Scott was apprehended near NW Seventh Avenue and 81st Street in Miami.

Following her arrest, Scott was informed of her Miranda rights and agreed to speak with detectives. though, she claimed to have no recollection of the events in question, according to the arrest report.

Charges and Current Status

Scott now faces charges of robbery with aggression or violence and grand theft in the second degree. As of Wednesday, she remains in the Turner Guilford Knight Center, awaiting a bond hearing.
