The Portuguese town of Vague, in the Aveiro region, recently hosted the 25th edition of the Iberian Table Tennis Tournament, a prestigious international event. The tournament brought together eight sub13 teams from Spain and Portugal for a highly competitive experience.

Participating teams included Andalusia, Galicia, Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León from Spain, along with Portuguese teams from Madeira, Aveiro, Braganza y Vilarreal. A total of 48 palistas competed in both individual and team events, demonstrating notable equality between male and female participants.

The Castilla y León female team was composed entirely of players from UBU RM Terán Players: Elena Martínez, Alicia Doncel and Alba González. Despite a strong showing, a narrow defeat in the group stage against castilla-La Mancha (3-2) prevented them from reaching the semifinals, ultimately placing them fifth in the team classification.

Individual Performances

Elena Martínez signed a great performance, reaching the quarter finals.

Individually, Elena Martínez delivered an notable performance, advancing to the quarter finals where she was narrowly defeated 3-1 by AFE JOANA FERNANDES of Portugal. Alicia Doncel reached the Eighth final.

In the male category, the Castilla y León team included Óscar Chávarri and Alejandro Martínez from Now tpf, along with Martín Magallanes from León. Together, they achieved the best result for the regional delegation, reaching the semifinals.They were defeated by the strong team from Madeira (3-0), earning a valuable bronze medal. in the individual competitions, Óscar Chávarri also reached the Eighth final.

This tournament served as excellent planning for the spanish championships of lower categories, scheduled to take place in La Nucía (Alicante) from June 20 to 30. The Burgos delegation continues its preparation with optimism. It has been confirmed that Castilla y León will host the Iberian Tournament in 2026,with Burgos as a leading candidate to host the competition.
