Bobi is the oldest dog that ever lived – world

Bobi was born in Portugal in 1992. Thus, he is not only the oldest living dog, but also beats a record that is almost a hundred years old.

Two weeks after Guinness World Records declared the 23-year-old Chihuahua the oldest living dog, they received evidence of an older dog. At almost 31 years old, Bobi is not only the oldest living dog, but also the oldest dog ever, according to Guinness World Records.

Bobi is a purebred Rafeior do Alentejo, a Portuguese breed of livestock guardian dog. Their average life expectancy is 12 to 14 years. But Bobi was born on May 11, 1992. He has spent his entire life with the Costa family in the rural village of Conqueiros, Portugal.

A pet database that Bobi was registered with in 1992 confirmed his date of birth and therefore his age. Thus, Bobi breaks a record that is almost a hundred years old. The oldest dog to date, Bluey (1910-1939), was an Australian Cattle Dog who lived to be 29 years and 5 months old.

“Peaceful environment” is said to have contributed to Bobi’s age

His owner Leonel was eight years old when Bobi was born and he has various theories as to why the dog lived to this age. He believes one of the most important factors is the “quiet, peaceful environment away from the cities” in which Bobi lives. In addition, he was never chained or leashed and was always able to move freely.

Leonel says Bobi is very social and spends a lot of time with the other animals. He used to like exploring the woods and fields around the house, but now he can’t walk as well. That’s why he spends most of his time in the garden with the family’s four cats. On colder days he likes to lie inside in front of the fire. Bobi’s mother, Gira, was 18 years old and another dog in the family was 22 when he died.
