Big and Small Publishing House has been nominated for the Bologna International Children’s Book Market Award / Article

For the second year in a row, the Bologna International Children’s Book Market will take place online, and the winners of the “Best Children’s Book Publisher of the Year” award will also be announced remotely. Publishers from six parts of the world are nominated for the award each year – Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa, Latin America and North America. Five publishers from each region are nominated for the final. Publishers from Italy, Portugal, Switzerland and Russia compete for the title of the best European children’s book publisher together with the Big and Small publishing house. Registered participants of the Bologna International Children’s Book Market vote for the nominated publishers. The results of the voting will be announced in June 2021, the representatives of the publishing house “Liels un mazs” informed in a press release.

This is the fourth time in a row that “Big and Small” has been nominated for the prestigious award, which highlights the high professionalism of publishers with their innovative and intellectually high-quality children’s book projects last year.

“In these difficult times, from which both adults and children get tired, our books are especially important because they help children understand and accept themselves, the world, changing emotions. The books also entertain children, relax them from the endless smoke and enchant the imagination of what is forbidden in reality – travel, adventure, meeting friends. ” says Alīse Nīgale, the head of the publishing house.

In the current circumstances, the international success and the nomination for the “Best Children’s Book Publisher of the Year” award is very important for the publishing house “Liels un mazs”, as the publishing house will participate in the online market by presenting previously published and acclaimed books to foreign publishers, such as Rebekah Lukošus’s picture book “Disobedient Grandfather” and Lotte Vilma Vītiņa’s book for teenagers “Water Tower”. The Bologna International Children’s Book Market is the world’s most important meeting of children’s book professionals.
