Belgium’s best-selling SUV is radically changing its style!

No more soft lines and rounded angles for the Tucson. The new model is geometric. Its sidewalls with multiple surfaces, its “square” wheel arches and even its rims display chalk-cut patterns. As a highlight, the grille incorporates on both sides of the cells which light up to create an incomparable light signature. The rear adopts a more horizontal and more massive design than the current model with in particular a crossing light strip, aesthetic detail which is back in fashion with many manufacturers.

Screens and smooth surfaces

The break is no less great on board, where the furniture adopts a very refined design that brings a lot of elegance to the cabin. The driver benefits of course from virtual meters, displayed on a screen of 8 to 10.25 inches depending on the level of the range, while in the middle, a second 10.25 inch screen is responsible for controlling the multimedia. Under the latter are the capacitive controls for the air conditioning, which Hyundai promises us as practical as physical buttons. We wait for a first contact to judge.

Obviously the habitability is still excellent, and the Tucson even takes advantage of the few centimeters gained in length (+2 cm) to offer an additional 26 mm to the legs of the rear passengers and increase the capacity of its trunk to 620 liters.

We won’t spare you the long litany of assistance systems, but know that the Korean SUV is among the very best in its class.

From the hybrid to all floors

The new Tucson will be offered almost exclusively in hybrid engines. Only the small 1.6l petrol (150 hp) and diesel (115 hp) engines do not have electric assistance. The others are equipped with a 48V electrical installation with an advanced starter-alternator to help out in the deceleration and recovery phases, and thus to reduce fuel consumption. This is the case for 1.6 T-GDI petrol engines with 150 or 180 hp, but also 1.6l CRDi diesel with 136 hp. A classic hybrid version is also in the catalog. It offers a total power of 230 hp by combining the 1.6 T-GDI with a 60 hp electric motor. Later, a plug-in hybrid version of 265 hp will also be added to which we can already promise a bright commercial future.
