For the third time, the BDA Bochum awards its BDA scholarship Ruhr to particularly talented students of the eight-semester bachelor’s degree in architecture at the Bochum University of Applied Sciences. Students from the third semester onwards can participate.
The architectural tasks change every year: “Reanimation” is the design theme this year. Reanimation stands for the revitalization or conversion of existing buildings in terms of sustainable and resource-saving architecture.
The winning work will receive a grant worth 1,000 euros. Cooperation partner is the professorship of Erhard An-He Kinzelbach with a focus on design and building construction in the architecture department of the Bochum University.

Inspire and encourage
The basic goal of the BDA Bochum is to promote building culture and design quality. “At the same time, we want to inspire the architects of tomorrow to take a master’s degree and support them financially on the way there,” emphasizes Boris E. Biskamp, board member of the BDA Bochum. He is the initiator of the scholarship and points out that today’s architects make high demands that require a broad-based, ten-semester course.
In addition, the BDA scholarship is intended to help intensify the dialogue between education and practice and to convey the values and goals of the BDA to the students. They can register for the grant by mid-July and submit their designs by September. Then, on September 23, it’s time to keep your fingers crossed. On this day, the students first present their drafts and theses as part of a colloquium in order to celebrate the lucky winning draft at the end.
