The skies over Big Bear Valley in the San Bernardino National Forest are brighter thanks to a new arrival of two bald eagle chicks. Jackie and Shadow, the pair of bald eagles, has welcomed these new members to their nest, after successfully navigating the challenges of a prior setback two years ago. The experience of witnessing these majestic birds welcome their new chicks has been a beacon of hope for nature enthusiasts and those who tuned in to watch the live webcam feed operated by the non-profit Friends of Big Bear Valley.
A Difficult Path to Hatching Success
The journey to the current success was filled with anticipation and the delicate process of incubation. The hatching process itself is both intense and amazing, beginning with "pipping," where visible cracks appeared on the eggshell. Thousands of viewers,ूdgetting a front row seat, watched on the nest’s live stream as Jackie and Shadow tirelessly monitored the eggs through their dedicated care.
The haiitibg process began with the first visible pip. Shadow would attempt to take over, but Jackie was noticeably invested in sharing the eggs. However, Shadow did gratefully pitched in, allowing her a morning break.
