Pablo, the little tiger seized from a private person during drug research, will be presented to the public at 11 a.m. on January 2 at the Capital Zoo and Botanical Garden, in the India House, the zoo reported.
“Pablo, the tiger cub previously kept illegally by a private individual and seized by the police, was placed in the quarantine station of the Budapest Zoo in recent weeks, where the public could not see him. Recently, however, the specialists of the Zoo have temporarily transformed one of the interior spaces of the India house for Pablo, so in the coming months – until he moves to the Bear Home in Versegyháza – the rescued tiger cub can be seen here then the visitors of the Budapest Zoo,” they wrote.
In December, the zoo posted that the emergency police alerted the zoo’s director general and chief veterinarian about a small tiger. The police found the animal in a house in Tiszafüred during a police operation as part of a drug investigation. Proceedings were initiated against the 40-year-old man who was arrested there for causing damage to nature and violating the obligation to keep a dangerous animal.
The little tiger is expected to move to his new home in March, until then – after the quarantine period – the public can see him at the India House in the Budapest Zoo, probably from the end of the year, the beginning of next year.
