Ascona, 4 concerts to relaunch the Popular Library

To relaunch its cultural activity after the long period of restrictions, the Popular Library of Ascona intends to offer a series of four open-air concerts, each of which characterized by an original and innovative approach to the repertoire and the various instruments. It will begin on Saturday 3 July with a duo of well-known Ticino musicians, the harpist Elisa Netzer and the mandolinist Duilio Galfetti who will perform in a … surprise concert, with pieces from the classical repertoire alternating with compositions from the Ticino folk tradition, but not only.

To follow, Saturday 24 July, the “Musical portraits” of the guitar duo Dodicisuoni by Alberto Montano and Federico Briasco; they will propose pieces of the classical tradition of different eras specially arranged, flanked by pieces ranging from New Flamenco to Swing Manouche up to Latin American sounds.

Marco Santilli and Julio Azcano will offer on Saturday 7th August an original exploration of the expressive possibilities of their two instruments (clarinets and guitar), mixing their compositions that refer to different genres (jazz, world, classical …). In the last appointment, Saturday 21 August, an instrument rarely used in the classical field will be on stage: the young accordionist Mirjana Tadic will perform her personal musical excursus revisiting, among others, Bach, Scarlatti, Albeniz alternating with Italian and Balkan folk music.

All the concerts, with compulsory reservation, will be held on Saturday, at 6 pm, in the welcoming atmosphere of the library’s internal courtyard. Admission: 20 francs.
