A petition wants to ban fireworks for private individuals

A radical text, to say the least, was tabled on Monday in Bern. He points to the terror experienced by animals, frightened by the sound of firecrackers.

The impact of fireworks on fauna and flora regularly arouses strong reactions and continues to make people react. After launch, at the beginning of May, of an initiative to limit them, a petition was filed on Monday in Bern. The text asks to prohibit individuals from using firecrackers and fireworks, in order to protect animals but also to limit damage to the environment.

Addressed to the head of the Federal Office for Food and Veterinary Safety (OFAS) Hans Wyss, the petition has already collected more than 22,800 signatures (status: this Monday, May 16 at 5 p.m.). It was launched by Ilenia Capecci, a Zurich resident who has been committed to animal welfare for ten years.
