TikToker Highlights Unique Differences Between Walmart Canada and US Stores
An American TikToker’s recent visit to Walmart Canada has ignited a viral discussion on social media platforms, centered around the differences between the retail giant’s stores in the two countries.
The TikTok Video That Started the Debate
Content creator Ashley, who shares her travel experiences on TikTok at @ashleytravels715, recently posted a video of her visit to a Walmart in Canada. In the video, she expressed her amazement at the discrepancies, particularly noting the differences in signage and product availability.
One key point Ashley highlighted was the inclusion of Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs, which are prohibited in the US due to safety concerns.
The Signage Differences
“I’m kind of creeped out. I’m in a Walmart in Canada, and everything is in, like, a different font, and I don’t know how to feel,” Ashley confessed.
The变了 in font styles and colors caught her off guard. She added, “The vibes are just weird in here. It’s like, this is a Walmart? And the crazier part is the outside is even weirder looking.”

Public Reaction to Ashley’s Video
The online response varied, with some viewers seeing significant differences and others finding the stores remarkably similar.
One viewer commented, “I went to an American Walmart, and honestly, it felt about the same. Was surprised at the fact there’s more stuff and guns, but other than that, I dunno. It still felt like Walmart.”
Another shared, “As a Canadian, I went to an American Walmart, and it’s honestly the same but more blue and 10 times bigger. Oh, and not much variety of chips and also guns.”
Some Canadians expressed offense, with comments like, “What’s her deal? Canadian and American Walmart are literally the same,” and “That’s how I feel going into an American Walmart as a Canadian.”

“First of all, peep the signs: black and white,” she said. “We don’t do your red and yellow motif. Lots of blue, lots more blue than you guys have. And our clothes section is actually pretty legit. We do have some fun styles, but the signs are just different. It’s in a different font.”
Ashley added humor, saying, “They practically have their own zip codes because they’re freaking ginormous.”
Concluding Thoughts
After her visits to both Walmart stores, Ashley humorously stated, “Again. Same, same, but different. So there you go, Canadians. United States Walmart, you’re welcome. Ours is better, sorry.”
Although some agreed with her assessment, many felt the disparities were minimal.
“It’s really not that different. At least not enough to be so shocked or confused about,” one commenter noted.
Another wrote, “That was… literally exactly the same.”

Varying Opinions
However, the reactions were diverse. Some preferred the ambiance and specific features of one over the other.
“Ya, no. I prefer the red signs because it’s more eye-catching than boring black,” one person wrote. “Plus, it looks more gloomy inside.”
“I’m a Canadian (Saskatchewan), and I was in Minot, North Dakota, a few months ago, and the only difference I found was it seemed dingier than ours,” observed another. “We’re definitely getting more ‘blue’ with our renos, but to me, Canada’s just seemed brighter and cleaner.”
The comparisons also touched on a deeper emotional plane for some viewers.
“I don’t know why, but this, like, hurt my feelings. I felt personally bullied for being Canadian, lol,” one commented.
Another questioned, “Like, what’s wrong with our vibes?”
Final Thoughts
The debate over the differences between Walmart Canada and Walmart US is not likely to die down soon, fueled by videos like Ashley’s that bring attention to these subtle yet distinct variations.
