Amazon announced on Monday the creation of 100,000 additional jobs in the United States and Canada. These new hires are in addition to several major recruitment campaigns organized in recent months.
Since the beginning of September, the e-commerce giant has said it will hire 33,000 new people in the United States for administrative and technical positions, and 10,000 new people at its Bellevue (Washington) site. Amazon also announced the hiring of 7,000 people in the United Kingdom by the end of 2020.
Opening of 100 new sites in North America
At the end of July, announcing its financial results, Jeff Bezos’ group had indicated that they had already created more than 175,000 jobs since March and were in the process of transforming 125,000 into permanent positions. For these 100,000 new positions announced on Monday, no deadline was mentioned but Amazon stressed that the hiring process had already started.
The group offers a minimum wage of $ 15 an hour as well as a hiring bonus of $ 1,000 in some cities. Amazon also offers significant benefits in the United States, such as health insurance, a retirement savings plan, up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave and several training courses.
Most of the new positions open are intended for 100 new sites of activity – distribution centers, sorting, delivery branches – which will open in September. They are in addition to 75 new units opened in 2020 in the United States and Canada.
