Alexander Gadjiev – Bologna Festival

Alexander Gadjiev, a natural talent for the piano cultivated from a very young age, was the first Italian pianist, sixty years after Maurizio Pollini, to get on the virtual podium of the Warsaw Chopin Competition. His recital is naturally all about Chopin, from the mazurkas to the second Sonata, with the “gloss” logic of Fantasia Op.17 by Schumann. Gadjiev takes us into the deepest folds of romantic pianism, safely moving between instrumental fullness and “mezzo voice”, controlled dynamics and timbre subtleties.
