After school in Porto Alegre | Sunday paper

The evangelical community in Porto Alegre runs several crèches and day-care centers in districts where poorer people tend to live. I was allowed to visit a daycare center.

There are sewing and computer courses, a sports field and a drumming course. The carers of the children say that the mothers, and it is always the mothers, not only drop off their children at the gate in the morning, but also dump some of their worries on them. They talk about unemployment, poverty, drugs and violence.
